PUTRAJAYA: A caretaker government must exist when parliament is dissolved to advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and to function as the government, said Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail.
He said although the Federal Constitution did not specifically provide for a caretaker government, Article 43 (1) provides that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong shall appoint a Cabinet of Ministers to advise him in exercising his functions.
