THE Sarawak Museum in Kuching was built in 1891. It was extended in 1911 to its present form.
The building was especially built to permanently house and display local native arts, crafts and collections of local animals as encouraged by famous naturalist Alfred Wallace, who was then collecting specimens in the state.
