KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has called on member states of the United Nations to focus on the important issue of violence against women and girls, and not to be side-tracked by elements that are not universally accepted.
Malaysia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Datuk Hussein Haniff (pic) said although a great amount of effort has been made, the challenge now was to ensure the policies, legislation and programmes remained relevant to the ever-changing and challenging issue of violence against women and girls.
