PETALING JAYA: It was an early Chinese New Year treat for employees at Menara Star who were entertained by Astro.
The celebration kicked off with a lion dance performance followed by the “Ulala remix dance” performed by Astro Battleground 2012 winner Fix and Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant contestants to welcome the Year of the Snake yesterday.
Chinese “Gods of Wealth” then handed out cushions and soft toys in the shape of Ulala, the snake-themed mascot of Astro’s Chinese New Year campaign.
Present to welcome the guests, who included Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd chief operating officer Henry Tan and Astro’s vice-president of Chinese customer business Choo Chi Han, was Star Publications (M) Bhd executive deputy chairman Datuk Vincent Lee.
Also present were the newspaper’s deputy group chief editor II Leanne Goh, managing editor June H.L. Wong and executive editor Datuk Wong Sai Wan.
The visit to The Star was part of Astro’s Chinese New Year campaign themed, “To be Participative.”
Choo said Astro is working on producing a local movie with the help of the public.
“Anyone can join the movie production. So far, we have over 4,000 applicants.
“It involves Chinese New Year elements and the main theme will be filial piety, which is why we have scheduled it to be released between Mother’s and Father’s Day,” he said.
