Universal Society of Hinduism hails Najib's call for interfaith dialogue

SINGAPORE: The Universal Society of Hinduism has welcomed the call for inter-religious dialogue by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

According to Bernama, the president, Rajan Zed, said in a statement from Nevada, the United States, that it was a "step in the right direction".

Najib had, in a speech in Christmas Day, reportedly stressed the need for continuous and constructive dialogue to improve inter-religious relations.

"Dialogue would bring us mutual enrichment," Zed said and stressed that all religions should work together for a just and peaceful world.

He stressed that religion was a powerful and complex component of human life, "so we must take it seriously".
