AN Umno Youth leader has denoun-ced PAS for allegedly misusing Islam to mislead the people.

“This is happening and it has become rampant and out of control,” Datuk Reezal Merican Naina Merican said in his speech to support the presidential speech by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Reezal also slammed PAS leaders for praying for the destruction of Umno and calling it murtad (apostate) and kafir (infidel).

He said Umno encouraged Islam to flourish in the country by building mosques, setting up tithe management centres, facilitating Islamic financial system and promoting Islamic universities.

He called on Umno members to take the general election as their jihad (struggle) to achieve victory.

Earlier, when moving a resolution to support the presidential speech, Sabah representative Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan slammed accusations by the Opposition that the state had been sidelined by the Federal Government.

He also rebuked Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for attempting to use foreign platforms to slam the Govern-ment, adding that no opposition leaders from abroad had come to the country to criticise their own governments.
