KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Maid Employers' Association (Mama) has shot down a suggestion by the Indonesian embassy that the salary of Indonesian domestic workers be increased “much more” than the agreed RM700 to attract them to work here.
Its president Engku Ahmad Fauzi Engku Muhsein said Mama firmly backed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Malaysia and Indonesia in May last year, which set the minimum salary of maids at RM700 a month.
