SANDAKAN: Wanita Umno wants the setting up of child care centres at all ministries and government-linked companies (GLCs) to made a requirement.
The movement leader, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, said the reason being that the initiative made by the government for the purpose was still not enough and many ministries and GLCs had yet to have child care centres at their premises.
"WE hope the Finance Ministry will monitor the setting up of the child care centres at all ministries and GLCs by making it a requirement," she told reporters after visiting an elderly couple at their house here Monday.
The visit was organised under the 'Sayang Squad' programme.
During the visit, Shahrizat presented a food hamper and cash to Lee Kon Song, 73, and wife, Hin Yan Kyun, 70. - Bernama
