Southern College given university college status

JOHOR BARU: Southern College was officially awarded university college status by the Higher Education Ministry on Saturday.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that the status upgrade was well deserved as 22-year-old Southern University College offers quality academic courses, conducive environment and facilities that meets the ministry's standards.

"The institute has proved its track record, which was why the ministry offered them a chance to upgrade their status in January this year.

"In just a few months, the college managed to make changes to meet the criteria including improve its courses and infrastructure as required by the ministry," he said after making the announcement.
