IPOH: A mother and her seven-year-old son were killed when an express bus collided into their car at Km46 of Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur trunk road.
Nurni Ahmad, 27, and her son Ikmal Daniel Abdullah died on the spot in the fatal accident that occurred near the Temoh police station in Tapah at about 1.30am Monday.
Tapah OCPD Supt Som Sak Din Keliaw said the express bus from Penang, which was heading towards Kuala Lumpur, swerved onto the opposite lane of the car.
He said the collision caused their car to spin around and knocked down a motorcycle from behind.
“The motorcyclist and the pillion rider, who were husband and wife, suffered severe injuries and were sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun hospital for emergency treatment,” he said.
Supt Som Sak said the bus driver and the 26 passengers were not hurt in the accident.
“The passengers were transferred onto another bus to continue their trip to Kuala Lumpur,” he said.
He said the 29-year-old bus driver would be summoned by the police to assist in the investigations.
