MELBOURNE: The Malaysian who was found guilty for the murder of heart surgeon Victor Chang will be released on parole after the Supreme Court rejected an attempt by New South Wales Attorney-General Greg Smith to keep him behind bars.
Liew Chiew Seng, who fired two fatal shots at Chang in a failed extortion attempt in 1991, was granted parole by the State Parole Authority last month. He was due to be deported to Malaysia by Wednesday, but Smith appealed the decision.
