Bouncer tries to bargain with photographer

GEORGE TOWN: “Give me a cigarette and I’ll show my face.”

A bouncer charged with the murder of a snatch theft victim here in early July, gave this response when a press photographer wanted to take his pictures.

Earlier, Ooi Kean Leong, 35, was charged with murdering 60-year-old Tan Kim Chuan at a motorcycle parking lot of the Rifle Range flats in Jalan Padang Tembak here at around 6am on July 10.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the mandatory death sentence. Magistrate Siti Salwa Ja’afar fixed Nov 6 to mention Ooi’s murder charge.

Ooi, from Relau, had earlier claimed trial to consuming methamphetamine, for which he allegedly tested positive on Aug 8.

The offence under Section 15(1)(A) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a maximum jail sentence of two years, or a maximum fine of RM5,000.

Siti Salwa fixed Oct 22 to mention the case pending a chemist’s report.Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Khairul Fairuz Rahman prosecuted.
