Tunku Temenggong appointed as Regent of Johor

JOHOR BARU: The Tunku Temenggong of Johor, Tunku Idris Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim, was appointed Saturday as the Regent of Johor during the absence of Sultan Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail, from the state.

The declaration of the appointment by the Sultan of Johor was read by Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, at Istana Pasir Pelangi, here.

The Tunku Temenggong later took the oath to discharge his power as the Regent at the same ceremony.

Sultan Ibrahim, through Abdul Ghani, also announced the appointment of Tunku Ismail as the Regent of Johor upon the return of Tunku Ismail who is now abroad.

Also present at the ceremony were Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris and other members of the royalty. - Bernama
