KUALA LUMPUR: Street demonstrations and ‘mooning’ are not values young Malaysians should be proud of, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“Street demonstration is not a Malaysian value that we would want to encourage; neither is the act of dropping one’s pants in public,” he said when launching the Preliminary Report of the Malaysian Education Development Plan 2013-2025 here yesterday.
Najib made the remarks in reference to the Merdeka Day eve gathering here where a college student bared his buttocks over a photograph of the prime minister.
Najib said changes to the nation’s education system must not only focus on acquiring knowledge and skills for the country’s econo- mic benefits but must also equip Malaysians with proper values.
