Our royalty rarely in the limelight

IN many ways, when it comes to Malaysia's royalty, the old Malay adage “Tak kenal maka tak cinta” (“Do not know, so do not love”) comes to mind.

Sunday Star randomly asked a few young people about what they know of the young British Royals and it was difficult to stop them rattling on. Quiz them on the contemporary Malaysian royal family, however, and you will get them scrambling for an answer. This lack of awareness may be due to the fact that, unlike Will and Kate who are constantly in the public spotlight, Malaysian royals tend to be very private and out of sight of the media.
