KUALA LUMPUR: An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck Irian Jaya, Indonesia, at 6.51pm, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
It said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was located 518km southeast of Sorong, Indonesia, and 2,043km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.
