BUTTERWORTH: Penang PKR chairman Datuk Mansor Othman's supposed description of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng as “cocky and arrogant” has left the DAP seething.

The DAP is now awaiting an official clarification from Mansor, who is also the Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1.

State party chairman Chow Kon Yeow said it “viewed with concern” the remarks made by Mansor during a closed-door state PKR meeting to discuss the party's preparations for the general election.

“We will await clarification from Mansor before making any further statements,” he said here yesterday.

A news portal had quoted Mansor as saying the minutes of the party's strategic planning meeting on the general election preparations had been published verbatim in an obscure blog.

He had apparently remarked that Lim was not only “arrogant” but also it was undeniable that Penangites thought of him as a “tokong” (a deity).

“He (Lim) is very arrogant, I will tell you ... cocky and arrogant. It is not easy. Now, more arrogant,” he was quoted as saying in the minutes.

Mansor, who is Penanti assemblyman, had recently said he would need a few days to investigate the leak.

He said the contents detailing questions on the coming general election and his responses to them were “genuine concerns”.

The news portal had said that a blog, titled Gelagat Anwar in its June 16, 18 and 19 postings, listed the meeting's attendees apart from detailing the discussions on seat allocations and problems faced by PKR in Penang.

Mansor could not be reached yesterday. He also did not reply to text messages.

Lim and Mansor are scheduled to hold a joint press conference at the latter's office in Komtar today.
