THIS Ramadan, you might be tempted to go straight to dessert for buka puasa at the Tonka Bean Cafe which serves up some all-time favourite sweet endings for locals.
“This year, we will be having Baskin Robbins’ ice cream again for our Ramadan buffet dinner. There will be a variety of flavours to indulge in.
“Apart from that, durians will be making their way into the spread as well,” Impiana KLCC Hotel banquet sous chef Mohd Azman Jemangin said.
While some may cringe at the thought of dining with the smell of durians in the air the entire time, rest assured that the prickly fruit will be placed outside the dining area where the hotel plans to set up a bazaar-themed buffet area.
“The tent will be set up right by the cafe to provide easy access for diners. There we will have several live stalls serving things like cucur, Roti John, ikan bakar, satay and more. Of course, there will also be plenty of durians,” Mohd Azman said.
He said that the main part of the buffet promises an impressive array of food, more than 100 dishes, in lieu of a changing daily menu.
“Our menu will be the same everyday but since there is so much to be had, we are confident that diners will not get bored.
“The main attraction of the buffet is the traditional Malay food,” he said.
Mohd Azman highlights two must-trys that is the Gulai Telur Itik and Nasi Briyani Kambing.
Diners will also find the usual fare such as Ikan Masak Siam, nasi tomato, Ayam Sambal Petai, Nasi Ulam, Penang Laksa, bubur lambuk as well as Chinese fare favourites like chicken rice, chilli crab and Indian specialties like roti canai making its appearance at the spread.
“The ever popular roasted lamb will also be available,” he added.
There is still a wide variety of desserts to choose from to end the meal with.
“We have traditional Malay kuih including dodol, kuih kole kacang, bingka ubi, onde onde as well as gula sago Melaka, Indonesian layer cake, bubur kacang hijau, pengat pisang, ABC, cendol, omochi and more,” Mohd Azman said.
Guests will also be entertained throughout the night by a three-piece traditional band consisting of gendang and gambus players and a vocalist.
Aquaria KLCC discount vouchers for 20% off its entrance ticket will also be given to diners.
The hotel is also well-prepared to cater to the large volume of guests with new and spacious prayer rooms.
As for the price to enjoy the buka puasa spread, it is RM108++ per person while children between six and 12 years old are charged half price.
