SAN DIEGO: Malaysia's 3D stereoscopic animated feature, War Of The Worlds: Goliath, premiered at the San Diego Comic Convention on Saturday.

Produced by Tripod Entertain-ment Sdn Bhd and directed by animation veteran Joe Pearson, the movie is a treatment of H.G. Wells' science fiction classic War of The Worlds, focusing on the fictional ARES organisation tasked with preparing the world for future Martian invasions.

Most of the praise for the movie centred on the impressive designs and concepts of the futuristic machines in the movie; which were created by Studio CLIMB in Petaling Jaya. The audio was done by Imaginex Sdn Bhd.

“The best parts are the parts made in Malaysia,” said David Abramowitz, the movie's screenwriter, who was watching the full film for the first time.

“The effects and the sound were incredible.”

The voice of local actor Tony Eusof was featured in the movie along with that of Peter Whing-field, Mark Sheppard and Adam Baldwin. They were directed by local lad Gavin Yap.

Tripod Entertainment and WOTW: Goliath were funded by Malaysian Ventre Capital Manage-ment Bhd (MAVCAP).

“This movie has been four years in the making and we are glad that it is finally finished,” said Pearson. “We would like to thank our Malaysian partners for their role in making this movie, as well as our investors.”
