JOHOR BARU: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has urged Barisan Nasional component parties to pull their weight in the general election and not rely too much on Umno's machinery.

He said leaders of all parties should go down to the ground to meet with voters.

Muhyiddin also reminded Umno members to support any candidate chosen by the Prime Minister to stand on a Barisan ticket.

“Do not question the candidate chosen by the party president or picked by the component parties,” he said at the Gelang Patah Umno division meeting yesterday.

Muhyiddin outlined Umno's three strategies for the coming general election ensuring continued unity at division level, improving relationship between Umno and Barisan component parties and resolving issues faced by the people.

He also announced an allocation of RM500,000 to be used to resolve problems in the Gelang Patah parliamentary constituency, which has 104,040 voters.
