Selangor taken to task over water loss

SHAH ALAM: An official of the Energy, Green Energy and Water Ministry has taken the Selangor government to task over its claims that it is cheaper to manage water loss than to build a water plant.

Disagreeing with the state government’s reasoning, the ministry’s water sector senior division secretary Sutekno Ahmadbelon said it would cost RM7.2bil to reduce non-revenue water from the current 32.3% to 20.8% in Selangor and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
