PETALING JAYA: The challenges facing police have increased with the repeal of emergency and preventive laws because some of the freed detainees are likely to return to criminal activities, crime and legal experts said.
They were commenting on a statement by Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) Selangor chapter adviser Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam that there could be as many as 2,000 former detainees roaming free in Selangor after the repeal of emergency and preventive detention laws.
