Villagers rescue elderly couple buried in landslip

KOTA KINABALU: Using nothing more than their bare hands and shovels, a group of villagers frantically dug through mud and rocks to rescue a couple buried in their house by a landslip at the foothills of Mount Kinabalu.

Three villagers of Kampung Kiau Taburi risked their lives to pull out farmer Anthony Chong and his wife, in their 70s, through a window of their single-storey concrete house, which was sliding down a hillslope after being dislodged by the landslip.
