Unruly mob attacks police patrol car

KUALA LUMPUR: An unruly mob attacked a police patrol car passing Dataran Merdeka early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred about 3AM and saw the crowd chanting abuse, hitting the patrol car and banging on its bonnet.

Pictures from the incident have been uploaded onto several blogs including http://stopthelies.my and http://bigcatrambleon.blogspot.com, as well as popular site YouTube.

City Deputy Police Chief Datuk Amar Singh confirmed that police had received reports regarding the incident.

He said there was no provocation from the police officers who were in the patrol car, and they were just passing through when the incident happened.

Police are investigating the matter.
