JOHOR BARU: Four DAP members staged a protest outside the Senai International Airport against the party's state chairman and Skudai assemblyman Dr Boo Cheng Hou.
The protesters, with placards, waited at the airport for DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to highlight their displeasure over Dr Boo's leadership and alleged poor treatment of Indian members.
However, the group dispersed after Lim, who was supposed to fly in from Penang to attend an event in Pontian, did not show up.
They claimed that Lim had come in on an earlier flight after hearing about the protest.
The protesters' spokesman V. Thulasidas, who claimed to be Taman Saga branch chairman, said they hoped to get Lim to look into Dr Boo's treatment of Indians.
He alleged Dr Boo was not interested in handling Indian issues in his constituency.
Thulasidas, formerly from PPP and now a DAP life member, claimed he had the backing of about 150 to 200 dissatisfied DAP members from four branches statewide.
Johor DAP deputy chairman Norman Fernandez rubbished the allegations and said Dr Boo has helped Indians both in his constituency and other parts of the state.
Meanwhile Dr Boo said he was saddened by the allegations as he had brought in more Indians into the party after becoming state chairman in 2005.
“Of our 90 branches statewide, we have about nine to 10 Indian branches,” he said.
