KOTA KINABALU: The Election Commission will stop the early counting of ballots in the general election to avoid the possibility of early results being leaked thus influencing voting patterns.
Its chairman Tan Sri Abdul AzIz Yusof said the counting of ballot papers will only begin at 4pm unlike in previous elections (including by-elections) when the papers were tabulated as early as noon at some centres.
