KUALA LUMPUR: All the victims of Wednesday’s floods should be exempted from paying the bill for water used to clean their homes and surroundings, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said.

He said he would make the proposal to the Government as soon as possible.

“We do not want them to bear another burden after incurring losses from the floods. We will discuss the matter with the Government so that Syabas (Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor) will exempt the victims from paying the bill,” he said after visiting the affected areas yesterday. He was joined by the volunteer group MyCorps.

“Syabas needs to take prompt action to solve the water woes,” Ahmad Shabery said. — Bernama
