LAWAS: State Resource Planning and Environment Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan presented equipment to 1AZAM participants at a handover ceremony here on Nov 30.

Awang Tengah said recipients of the 1AZAM assistance and Agriculture Assistance Scheme should work hard to raise their income with the equipment provided by the Government.

The 36 participants were given fishing tools, fibre glass boats, outboard engines and fishing nets among other items.

He said the participants were required to attend a five-day training course on the proper usage and maintenance of the equipment.

The 1AZAM programme, under the GTP's Low-Income Households NKRA, was created to help improve the income generation of the impoverished through assistance provided in terms of job opportunities through its four avenues of AZAM Tani (agriculture), AZAM Niaga (entrepreneurial), AZAM Khidmat (services) and AZAM Kerja (job placements).
