KUALA LUMPUR: The government subsidied over RM249mil for losses incurred by Rural Air Services (RAS), then operated by AirAsia subsidiary Fly Asian Xpress(FAX), between Aug 1 2006 and Sept 30 2007, Parliament was told.
"The losses included leases for RAS aircrafts," Deputy Transport Minister Jelaing Mersat said when answering a question from Datuk Dr Mohd Hayati Othman (PAS-Pendang) who wanted to know the amount of subsidy paid out to AirAsia during the time it handled RAS.
