GEORGE TOWN: Police arrested 21 foreign guest relations officers (GROs) in a raid on an entertainment centre in Pulau Tikus here early Sunday.

Also arrested was a local man in his 30s.

A police spokesman said the women, 15 of whom were from China, five from Vietnam and one from Cambodia, were nabbed in an anti-vice operation, dubbed Ops Noda, which began at 2.45am.

He said the women, aged between 20 and 30, had abused their social visit passes by working at the entertainment centre which was opened last month.

"They are also believed to have offered sex service," he told reporters here.

All suspects were being investigated under immigration regulations.

Meanwhile, Timur Laut police chief ACP Gan Kok Meng, when contacted, confirmed the arrests and said that continuous raid would be mounted to combat vice activities in the district. - Bernama
