KOTA KINABALU: Five Federal Cabinet members were among 10 people who received the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK) in conjunction with the 58th birthday celebration of Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili and Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman received the SPDK, which carries the title Datuk Seri Panglima.
Others who received the state’s highest award were Court of Appeal Judge Datuk Sulong Matjeraie, former Sabah deputy chief ministers Datuk Tham Nyip Shen and Datuk Wences Anggang, State Secretary Datuk Sukarti Wakiman and social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.
A total of 720 people received state awards, including 47 who received the state’s second highest honour – the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK) that carries the title Datuk. Among those honoured with the PGDK were State Assistant Infrastructure Minister Pang Nyuk Ming, Banggi assemblyman Abdul Mijul Unani, retired Sabah federal secretary Muhammad Hatta Ab Aziz, Parti Bersatu Sabah deputy president Almudin Kaida, Sabah deputy police commissioner Senior Asst Comm Tan Kok Liang, Sabah MCA vice-chairman Datuk Lim Kong Yuen and Tawau MIC leader Datuk Victor Rajasekaran.
The recipients of the Justice of Peace awards were former Sandakan MP Datuk Lau Ngan Siew and former Kota Kinabalu Municipal Council president Datuk Stanilaus Yee Fong Chun.
Fifty-nine people received the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu (ASDK), 129 received the Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (ADK), 182 the Bintang Setia Kinabalu (BSK), 223 the Bintang Kinabalu (BK) and 64 received the Sijil Kehormat (certificate of honour).
