KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed Pakistani man was ordered to serve 17 years in jail and to receive 10 strokes of the rotan after the High Court upheld a Sessions Court’s conviction of his rape of his step-daughter five years ago.
Justice Ghazali Cha, in his ruling yesterday, acquitted the 28-year-old man of two convictions on technical grounds but upheld a third conviction after finding that he had failed to raise reasonable doubt on the prosecution’s case against him.
