Johor police bust 4D gambling ring

KLUANG: Police have squashed an illegal 4D syndicate that rakes in half a million ringgit a month with the arrest of 23 suspects.

The syndicate has been collecting about RM504,000 a month since it started operation some six months ago.

Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm II Datuk Amer Awal said the syndicate had raked in about RM6,000 a week in bets from gamblers.

SAC Amer said during the operation, police had arrested 15 suspects including four women in Batu Pahat and eight suspects here.

“We also arrested a gambler who was in the midst of placing his bets during the operation in Batu Pahat,” he said at the Kluang district police headquarters, adding that cash totalling RM4,033 had been seized to-gether with 22 printers, 25 mobile phones and 189 sheets of paper used by the syndicate to take bets.
