KUALA LUMPUR: The integrated Safe City Monitoring Programme which was introduced by the Housing and Local Government Ministry has contributed to the reduction of street crime by 35% and the overall index crime rate by 15% last year.
According to its minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung, the system, which was put in place in January, integrated the operations of the local government, police and city councils.
