GTP: 406,980 Primary 1 children passed numeracy screening


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 406,980 or 91 percent Primary 1 children who underwent the Literacy and Numeracy (LINUS) programme throughout the country, passed the basic numeracy screening to surpass the 90 percent target set under the National Key Results Area (NKRA) for Education that was launched in April 2009.

According to the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) Annual Report for 2010, released by the Prime Minister's Department, approximately 450,000 Primary 1 children had undergone three screening tests on literacy and numeracy.
