Kuan Yin touch to Thaipusam

GEORGE TOWN: There will be a fusion of cultures when shop owner D. Kugan prepares his refreshment stall for Thaipusam this year – the thaneer panthal will feature a 4.57m-high carving of Kuan Yin (the Goddess of Mercy).

Kugan said it had been his father’s wish to put up an image of the Buddhist deity at their company’s refreshment stall in Jalan Magazine, as the chariot carrying the Hindu Lord Subramaniam makes its way from Penang Street to the Sri Balathanda-yuthapani Temple at Waterfall Road.
