PETALING JAYA: This year’s New Year’s Eve partying will start earlier with today being declared a holiday.

Several malls, organisations and local councils in the Klang Valley have readied a slew of activities.

One of the more colourful celebrations will be at the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, with revellers urged to come dressed in their best Lady Gaga costumes. A RM500 prize for best outfit is up for grabs.

Over at Dataran Merdeka, local artistes Mizz Nina, rock legend Amy Search, Malaysian Idol 2 winner Daniel Lee, Datuk David Arumugam, bhangra group Gold Kartz, Ramlah Ram and pop rock band Pop Shuvit will greet fans at the Ambang 2011 Kuala Lumpur concert. The night will culminate with a fireworks display.

In Petaling Jaya, the Mutiara Damansara Commercial Centre is starting its countdown party at 8pm with performances by international artiste Colby O’Donis and local performers Tomok, Shila, Amy, Stella, Kay and Alvin.

Tropicana City Mall is having a street party with music and various dance performances.
