IPOH: A four-wheel drive vehicle belonging to the Perak branch of the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry was vandalised on Thursday night.
State director Hilmi Noor said the Naza Sorento’s exterior was found to have been spray-painted after an enforcement team inspected a premises in Persiaran Greentown 11 here.
He added the right side and back of the vehicle were sprayed with black paint, believed to have been done by a group of “tonto” who had trailed the team during their operation at the Greentown Business Centre from 8pm to 10pm on Thursday.
Hilmi said the operation was conducted to collect information on owners of the premises and complaints on optical discs sold without holograms, price tags and the names and addresses of the manufacturers.
He said the incident was the first in Ipoh and the second in Perak after a ministry enforcement vehicle was splashed with red paint in Taiping in August.
On a separate matter, Hilmi said there would be sufficient supply of food such as chicken, eggs and cooking oil in Perak for the Christmas festive season although there were complaints of shortages.
Hilmi said his officers would continue to monitor the situation until Monday. – Bernama
