KOTA KINABALU: Tunnelling is the best option for future road projects criss-crossing Sabah’s mountainous interior terrain, according to deputy Chief Minister Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
Pairin, the state Infrastructure Development Minister, said that tunnelling projects could be more expensive than cutting hillslopes to make way for roads but the overall road maintenance costs would be lower in the long run.
