THE arson attacks on houses of worship in January is still being investigated, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
He said the petrol bomb attacks on Assumption Church, Life Chapel Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Petaling Jaya were investigated under Section 436 and 511 of the Penal Code for committing mischief by using fire or explosive substance with the intention to destroy.
In a written reply to Hee Loy Sian (PKR-Petaling Jaya Selatan), Hishammuddin said another case in which pig heads were thrown into the compound of Masjid Jumhuriyah, Petaling Jaya, was being investigated under the offence for defiling a place of worship with intent to insult religious beliefs.
In a similar case where pig heads were hurled into the compound of Masjid Imam At-Tarmizi, Petaling Jaya, the minister said the case was being investigated for causing disharmony, disunity, or feelings of enmity, hatred and ill-will or prejudicing the maintenance of harmony or unity on the religious grounds.
In response to the minister’s reply, Hee said he was disappointed that the cases were still under investigation although they happened months ago.
