JOHOR BARU: A woman caused a ruckus outside a court when she took off her clothes and shouted at passers-by.

The 35-year-old housewife was waiting for her case to be heard when she suddenly took off her baju kurung in front of surprised people who were waiting outside a magistrate’s court here yesterday.

L/Kpl Ismail Rejab, who was on duty in the courtroom, said he first heard a commotion outside at 9.30am.

“When I came out, I was shocked to see a woman removing her blouse. The public stared in shock as she took off her top and sat down on a chair. She only had a bra on,” he told The Star.

L/Kpl Ismail added that the woman then threw her top at the people waiting in the hallway. She also gestured at them and shouted that they were mad.

“An older woman, who was probably her mother, tried to calm her down and coaxed her to put her dress on.

“I picked up the woman’s top and quickly covered her body,” he said.

The woman was supposed to be charged in court for child negligence which led to the death of her one-year-old son. It is learnt that she had a history of mental problems.

DPP Chuah Shyue Chien informed magistrate Mazanah Senin about the incident, who then ordered the woman to be sent to Hospital Permai for a psychiatric evaluation.

Mazanah later set Dec 23 for mention pending submission of the psychiatric report.
