KUALA TERENGGANU: The internal turmoil plaguing PKR could be a blessing for Umno, party vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said.

Hishammuddin, who is Umno liaison committee chairman, said the situation in PKR would be positive for Terengganu, where Umno could gather support from those who had previously distanced themselves from the party.

He added that people could now gauge for themselves which party could defend them. He also said they should also ask themselves whether they wanted to be with PKR, which was facing a serious internal crisis.

“Umno has the advantage because of our unity. We just have to further consolidate our unity and continue serving the people of all races.

“In return, they will give their support to us,” he said after chairing a closed-door meeting with Kuala Nerus and Marang division leaders here yesterday.

On Terengganu Umno, Hishammuddin said he believed that the ties between the state party leaders had improved.

He added that he had received “positive vibes” during his meeting with all eight party division members in the state during his two-day visit here.

“Things are looking brighter here and unity among these leaders is now stronger. We need to continue to maintain this strength,” Hishammuddin said.
