KOTA BARU: Barisan Nasional representatives in the state assembly will support the special sitting on Sept 27 to amend the state constitution pertaining to the Kelantan Sultan issue.
State opposition leader Datuk Alwi Che Ahmad, who is also Kok Lanas assemblyman, said all Barisan representatives would definitely support the special sitting on the issue “as His Majesty is our ruler.”
He was speaking to reporters at his Hari Raya open house at his residence in Padang Upih, Ketereh, near here, yesterday.
Alwi, who is also Kok Lanas Umno division deputy chief, was earlier asked about the Kelantan opposition assemblymen’s stand on the scheduled special state assembly sitting.
Before this, State Secretary Datuk Mohd Aiseri Alias was reported to have said that the state government would hold a special sitting of the State Legislative Assembly soon to amend the state constitution.
According to him, the state government would also determine the allowance for life for former Kelantan Sultan Tuanku Ismail Petra Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra, from the state Consolidated Fund.
Alwi, however, said all six Barisan assemblymen had yet to receive the official invitation from the State Secretariat to the special sitting.
They are Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar (Pengkalan Kubor), Datuk Ab Aziz Derashid (Kuala Balah), Mohd Adhan Kechik (Bukit Panau), Datuk Nozula Mat Diah (Paloh) and Mat Yusoff Abd Ghani (Nenggiri).
Alwi said the state assembly sitting (on the budget) was scheduled for Nov 1.
