KOTA KINABALU: A policeman who fought communists, a diplomat and two veteran politicians from Sabah and Sarawak were presented with the inaugural Tokoh Malaysia award in conjunction with the 47th Malaysia Day celebrations.
Former Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Yakub, Sabah’s former federal Cabinet minister Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Gilong, former Perak police chief Datuk Seri Yuen Yuet Leng and former Foreign Ministry secretary-general Tan Sri Zainal Abidin Sulong received their awards at Padang Merdeka here last night. They each received RM50,000 and a certificate of recognition with a plaque from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
