YOUNG Muslim couples can get married through a system of nikah khitbah – which accords them the status of man and wife but does not require them to live together – as a way out of conceiving babies out of wedlock, Sinar Harian reported.
Such marriages are also known as nikah gantung (or suspended marriage) due to the element of separation that is involved in the matrimonial arrangement.
