KUALA TERENGGANU: The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) plans to establish model mosques in its land schemes to benefit the settlers and their families in more ways than as just as houses of worship, Felda chairman Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusof Nor said here.
He said that each mosque, besides being places of worship, would also have facilities such as kindergartens, clinics, libraries and more.
"The location of these mosques would be determined later. We are now looking into a suitable design," he told reporters after presenting a RM300 contribution to each of 19 mosque officials in Terengganu Felda schemes.
Dr Mohd Yusof also said that a special committee would look into the possibility of establishing these facilities at the existing 400 mosques in the Felda schemes nationwide.
The mosque would eventually become an important institution in Felda schemes, he said, adding that various programmes would be held there for youths and children. - Bernama
