Teoh inquest set to see battle of experts over new evidence

PETALING JAYA: The emergence of a purported suicide note is set to turn the Teoh Beng Hock inquest into a battle of handwriting experts.

Teoh’s family lawyer Gobind Singh Deo is considering getting an expert to analyse the writing on the note that was earlier determined as authentic by the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

Other developments:

> Bar Council chairman Ragunath Kesavan says the Public Prosecutor can still introduce evidence at this stage of the inquest, which started a year ago, but claims that the disclosure should have been done at the start to allow for witnesses to be cross-examined; and

> The Bar Council has also called on the Government to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry into Teoh’s death.
