KUCHING: The Federal Government has been urged to expedite legislation to prohibit glue-sniffing as the addiction is getting rampant.
National Association for Drug Prevention Malaysia (Pemadam) secretary general Dato Kamilia Ibrahim said the anti-glue sniffing law was proposed a few years ago and the Bill had also been drafted.
However, she said the draft was still with the Attorney-General and it should be tabled in October.
She said the Act, if passed, would prohibit glue sniffing and ban the abuse of inhalants. This means that traders could be prosecuted if they sold these items to children.
Kamilia said glue sniffing was more rampant among children aged 13 and below.
