Iranian arrested over syabu smuggling attempt


SHAH ALAM: Police seized a total of 5.8kg of syabu, worth more than RM1.45mil, and arrested an Iranian who was trying to smuggle them into Malaysia.

The 24-year-old, who was suspected to be part of a drug-smuggling syndicate, was arrested by members of the anti-narcotic unit from the KL International Airport at 3.30pm on Friday. A plastic packet which contained 3kg of syabu, estimated to worth RM750,000, was also found in his luggage. Selangor narcotics chief Asst Comm Nordin Kadir said the team found another plastic packet with 2.8kg of syabu worth RM700,000 in an unclaimed luggage at the airport at 11.30pm the next day.
