KUALA LUMPUR: Research by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and two other organisations on the usage of a local organic fertiliser, known as AgroPlus, has succeeded in increasing rock melon yield and enhancing its sweetness.
UKM senior lecturer at the School of Chemical Sciences and Food Technology, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Dr Sahilah Abdul Mutalib said an average of 2.5kg of A grade rock melon with a sweetness level of more than 13 on the Brix meter was harvested as a result of spraying AgroPlus on the plant.
